Welcome to the 22nd International Conference on Arabidopsis Research being held at the Memorial Union on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. As the largest annual international scientific conference focusing on cutting-edge research using the reference plant Arabidopsis thaliana and incorporating research on other plants, we invite you to this year's meeting.

Reasons why you will want to attend 2011 ICAR

  • Top-notch plant research from around the world. New sessions this year: ‘Translational Plant Biology’, ‘Cell Walls and the Cuticle, ‘Light/Circadian Regulation’ and ‘Stem Cells’ and relevant up-and-coming topics like ‘Computational Biology’ and ‘Systems Biology.’ Classic topics like Development, Abiotic/Biotic Interactions, (Epi)Genetics and Cell Biology, among others, continue to be strongly represented.

  • Back in the U.S. after 5 year break. The ICAR returns to the U.S. (and to Madison) for the first time since 2006. The meeting won’t return to North America until at least 2014!

  • No membership required for inclusive, affordable registration. Registration fees include 3 full meals a day (banquet optional), opening reception, airport transportation, poster session food and drinks! We offer lower fees for early registration as well as special pricing for postdocs and students. Few international meetings provide this level of quality science at such a great price.

  • Many opportunities to present your research.  50 slots will be available for speakers selected from submitted abstracts. There are also opportunities for participants to present their research at one of the community-organized workshops.

  • Inexpensive hotels and low-priced student housing  Affordable housing options make this meeting accessible to even those with small conference and travel budgets.

  • The Terrace! This classic Madison hangout spot (just outside the plenary session room) overlooks scenic Lake Mendota. Many Arabidopsis conference participants have enjoyed a drink and a Bratwurst among friends while discussing the latest and greatest research advances.

On behalf of the North American Arabidopsis Steering Committee, we look forward to seeing you in Madison in June, 2011 for an exciting scientific meeting in a beautiful setting!
