2012 Wisconsin Basecamp Scholarship Information
2012 Scholarships ARE Available - Apply by May 29th!
The University of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Union feel strongly that participation in Wisconsin Basecamp should not be limited by financial ability. We continue to work hard to keep the cost of Basecamp affordable. Still it is recognized that there may be situations were the fee is prohibitive. Therefore a scholarship program was developed in 2009 to meet this need.
This past year the Wisconsin Basecamp Program received money from a Center for the First-Year Experience grant to offset a portion of the cost of a limited number of participants’ trip fees, hopefully providing the opportunity for all students to participate in the program, regardless of financial situation.
Individual award decisions will be based on the need for aid as reviewed and ranked by the UW-Madison Registrar and Financial Aid Offices. All information will be kept confidential by those Offices. Your application or need for aid in no way affects your eligibility for participation in Wisconsin Basecamp.
The scholarships will be up to $300 each. Please note that scholarship participants are still required to pay the remaining difference in trip fees, including the $50 (non-refundable) registration fee. Successful scholarship applicants will also be required to provide a one-page written narrative on the trip after completing their Basecamp experience.
