Financial Assistance

Deadline for receipt of Financial Aid Applications: June 1st

Our goal is to supplement funding of individuals who would otherwise be unable to attend the meeting. Please make every effort to secure your own funding and leave the meeting funds to the extremely needy. You may request that your registration fee be reimbursed. Available funds are restricted to students who submit and present an abstract for a talk/poster presentation at the meeting.

Financial aid is available for registration only. Only one person from the one lab can receive financial aid. Financial aid is on a reimbursement basis only. ONLY EXPENSES DOCUMENTED BY RECEIPTS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED. We cannot provide funds to cover future expenses, as all expenses must be documented by receipts.

Financial aid awards will be announced in mid-June and checks will be disbursed in the form of reimbursements after the meeting. Students interested in applying for financial support will forward the following information to the meeting organizer, Maureen Barr (barr@biology.rutgers.edu) at the address below.  

To apply for financial aid, you must do the following:

1. Submit your application with the following information by email. You will also send your receipts to Maureen Barr (barr@biology.rutgers.edu) below with a printed copy of this information as well.

Abstract title & abstract

Meeting you are attending

Lab Address and name of Lab Head

Short justification of financial need

Short CV

2. Print your registration confirmation and STAPLE ALL THE RELEVANT RECEIPTS to it. On each receipt, highlight the registration amount (if in foreign currency, write equivalent dollar amount).

3. Mail a copy of your registration form WITH attached receipts with a copy of the emailed application:

4. Deadline for form and receipts is June 1st. Forms received after that date will NOT be reviewed, even if filed earlier on the web. Applications received by fax will NOT be accepted. Forms that do not have receipts attached to them will NOT be reviewed.
