Weddings and Special Events with the Wisconsin Union
The Campus Event Services Office provides planning and coordination for any size wedding reception, anniversary party and other special events. The beautiful rooms and spaces in the Memorial Union and Union South serve as the perfect backdrop.

Important Date Information
Securing Your Date
We begin taking reservations for events on the first working day of the month, 18 months in advance of a requested event date. Example: if you are be interested in having a wedding reception on September 7, 2013, the earliest you can make a request for a reservation would be the first working day of the month, 18 months prior to the event (Thursday, March 1, 2012).
Lottery
The Union uses a lottery system for member reservations in our popular large reception spaces—Great Hall, Tripp Commons and Varsity Hall. On the first business day of each month, those Union members who arrive at the Campus Event Services office between 8:00 am and 9:00 am will be given a number upon completion of a form. The lottery will be held at 9:00 am with reservations made in the order that the numbers are drawn.
Due to University conferences and events, not all weekend dates may be available. Before coming to the lottery, please call or email the office to determine the most current availability.
Information needed and requirements to be eligible for participation in the lottery include:
- Wisconsin Union membership number
- Name of Union member
- $1,000 non-refundable deposit
- Approximate # of guests
- Phone number, email and mailing address for the main contact on the reservation
- Preferred date and preferred reception space
Maximum of one lottery number assigned per event. Reservations are non-transferable.
Please note that reservations for events occurring less than 18 months in advance are accepted on a first come, first serve basis. For available dates, click here.
Ceremonies
Wedding ceremonies can be held with the Wisconsin Union under certain circumstances. For additional information, click here.
Tastings
Complimentary tastings are available for Wisconsin Union brides and grooms. Group tastings are held on the following months: January, February, March, April*, June, July, August, September and November. They take place from 1-3PM in the Memorial Union on the second Sunday of the month. Please contact Campus Event Services to reserve your seat. Reservations are required.
Tasting Menu #1 will be featured at the February, April, June, August, and November tastings.
Tasting Menu #2 will be featured at the January, March, July and September tastings.
*Due to Easter, the April tasting will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2012.
