jeff_buttersJeff Butters: Community Service Associate Director
Office Hours: Tuesday 4:00-5:30pm

I am a senior at UW-Madison. I'm just finishing a degree in chemistry and am currently in the first year of the two year secondary education program at the university. I love talking about all kinds of things: science, philosophy, global issues, politics, etc. - so please, approach me with a topic and we can discuss!

Why was I drawn to the Society and Politics Committee, you ask? Well, because I have an interest in this world and particularly in tackling the many social, political and environmental predicaments our species must overcome. It sounds serious, but, at the same time, it's a lot of fun!

maria_richardsMaria Richards: Social Issues Associate Director

Office Hours: Tuesday 4:00-5:30pm

Hi, my name is Maria! I'm a senior studying Sociology, and I am also working towards certificates in Criminal Justice and Gender and Women's Studies. I like learning more about social and political issues, which is why i became involved with SoPo. Some of my favorite pastimes including hanging out with friends, listening to music, watching movies, and of course attending SoPo events! I also enjoy cooking and baking, so if you're lucky I'll bring some tasty                                                         homemade food to a SoPo meeting. I look forward to meeting you all!

Maggie Lalor: Director
Office Hours Tuesdays 11:00am-2:00pm and Thursdays 11:00am-1:00pm

I'm a graduate student in the La Follette School of Public Affairs earning my Masters in Public Affairs with an Environmental Policy Focus. I also earned my B.S. in Zoology, Political Science and Economics here at UW-Madison just this past May, so in a lot of ways I'm like a super-senior. I love discussing social and political issues and have a background in social justice and peer education, which is why I found SoPo so intriguing. When I'm not knee-deep in all things SoPo I spend my time hanging out with friends, watching movies, cooking, learning to ride horses and trying to find a job for that "real world" I'm supposed to be entering soon. I hope to see you at the next SoPo meeting!
