Be Part of a Wonderful Tradition
Make a Gift to the Memorial Union
The Wisconsin Union is a self-supporting organization that does not receive state tax dollars. It relies on gifts from alumni and other supporters to help enhance its facilities and provide programs and services. It’s easy to make a gift to the Union at the UW Foundation web site and your gift can reflect your personal interests. From supporting cultural arts, student leadership opportunities, or facility improvements, you determine the fund or purpose for your donation. By making a gift, you will become part of a wonderful tradition of donor support that has made the Wisconsin Union the heart and soul of UW-Madison since 1928.
If you have questions about making a gift to the Union, or would like more information about MUBA, please contact Glenda Noel-Ney, Director of Development and Membership.
Memorial Union Building Association
The Memorial Union Building Association (MUBA) is a non-profit, educational corporation representing the 80,000+ Wisconsin Union lifetime members comprised of UW-Madison students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. A Union Building Committee was established by the UW Board of Regents in the 1920’s to raise the funds to build Memorial Union. More than $1 million in gifts from UW students and alumni was received—the single largest fundraising campaign ever undertaken by the University at that time. Fundraising activities continued in the 1930’s when money was needed for construction of the Union Theater.
In 1951, the Building Committee incorporated as the Memorial Union Building Association, with a stated purposed of promoting the interests, welfare, and development of the Wisconsin Union through its membership programs; financial stewardship and fundraising. For more than 50 years, MUBA has continued to seek private funds for the betterment of the Wisconsin Union.
