WHO? Undergraduate and Graduate Students (Individuals and Teams): Share your Research!
The TeraGrid Conference poster session is an opportunity for students to share their research and network with professional colleagues at all levels.
Undergraduates and graduate students are invited to showcase their research and creativity by submitting a poster abstract for the second annual TeraGrid Conference, June 4-8, 2007.
Posters are invited in all research and education areas but should be consistent with the conference theme. Poster formats may involve graphic elements on poster board as well as laptops for presenting additional information (bring your own - laptops will not be provided.)
Awards for the best poster presentations will be judged on the criteria below.
Poster Submissions
Poster titles and abstracts are due April 13, 2007. Abstracts are limited to 150 words. All student authors should be highlighted with an asterisk next to their name. Students must be registered at an accredited US College or University. Ten student posters will be invited to attend the TeraGrid Conference in June. The conference registration fee will be waived for these students to attend the conference and present their posters for judging. Prizes will be awarded to the best undergraduate student poster and the best graduate student poster.
What are the judging criteria for the abstracts?
The abstracts will be reviewed and five semi-finalists in each category (undergraduate and graduate) will be selected to present posters to the Conference. Abstracts will be evaluated on the following attributes:
- Clarity of the written research goals, methods, findings to date, and possible future research directions, and the
- Ability to convey the benefits of TeraGrid to the research.
Poster judging criteria:
- Effective written and oral articulation of the research project – goals, methods, findings to date, and possible future research directions,
- Ability to clearly convey how TeraGrid contributed to the research,
- Effective use of the presentation medium
Prizes
Prizes (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) will be awarded in each category, graduate and undergraduate. Winning entrants will also be invited to a special luncheon with scientists from the National Science Foundation. Winning students will receive an all expense-paid trip to SuperComputing 2007 – the premiere annual conference showcasing high performance computing. The conference will be held November 10-16, 2007 in Reno, Nevada. In addition, top winners will each receive a $500 cash prize to support their research. The 1st Place winners are not eligible to compete the following year.
Entries must be received by April 13, 2007.

Winning entries and other submissions will be posted to the TeraGrid web site (www.teragrid.org). All entries become the non-exclusive property of the University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory and will not be returned. Winning submissions may be distributed to local media and reprinted at the discretion of the TeraGrid project.
Submissions chosen to bring posters to the annual TeraGrid Conference will be notified by May 4, 2007.
